Our Partners

We get support and collaborate with national and international partners.

Implementing partners

Our work on the ground would not be possible without the input of various experts and the technical support of organizations that we work with. These are the following:

University of Siegen

With computer scientists from the University of Siegen, Germany, we have developed a first-of-its kind automated, customized Lion Alert System. Farmers in our five partner villages receive real-time warning messages via their mobile phones. The alerts are linked to our determined virtual fences and are automatically activated once a collared lion passes a geofence. On an ongoing basis, we collaborate with the experts to optimize and adjust the Alert System.

Herding 4 Health

Without the partnership with Herding 4 Health we would have not come so far in our Communal Herding Program. The model was developed over many years with the aim of making Africa’s rangelands thrive for the benefit of people and nature. H4H enables community -driven approach that empowers communities to choose nature and wildlife friendly practices as well as unlocking the livestock value chain. In our community H4H has helped identify and train specialized herders (ecorangers) and they have guided us in collective management of livestock through planned grazing and mobile, predator proof bomas. H4H has trained ecorangers on improved herd health, disease prevention and record keeping.  Farmers are more able to participate in and access more lucrative livestock markets.

Herding 4 Health

We are happy to have started a collaboration with the Botswanan safari tour operator Wilderness Safaris in 2022. In support of our work, Wilderness will provide us with three tracking experts to continue our research on monitoring lion population dynamics in our study area. On a regular basis, the experts will be out in the field and support us in lion tracking, setting up camera traps and analyzing data.
